Former Treasurer Files for Chapter 7
This week, it was reported that the former treasurer of a small Southwest Missouri village filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Prior to filing for bankruptcy, the former treasurer was found guilty of stealing more than $376,000 from the community.
On Thursday, 64-year-old Gene Paul Boyd filed his bankruptcy petition with the Western District Bankruptcy Court in Springfield.
In June, he was sentenced to 15 years in jail, but was given probation for one year so he could make restitution payments of $376,000 to the community. After a long investigation, law enforcement found that Boyd had stole funds between 2002 and 2008. It was also noted that an additional $673,534 remained unaccounted for.
