Oakridge Golf Club Files for Bankruptcy Protection
A Dallas, TX country club, formally known as the Oakridge Golf Club, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week after it had been posted for foreclosure. Although it claims to have $1 million in assets, that is riding against the $10 million in debts that it owes to various parties. Some of these creditors include utility companies and the city of Garland, TX. This information was released by the IRI Golf Group who owns this club as well as two more that also filed for bankruptcy this year.
Unfortunately for some customers the club was selling memberships up until the day that it closed for business, affecting golf enthusiasts like Bob Flores who purchased a membership at the last moment. Even the utility service had been discontinued by Garland Power & Light; however, services have been restored to the course since then. New owners hope to open the club again in the near future.
