MLB Argues it is Owed Millions in Bankruptcy Case
Even though its bankruptcy case was completed last year, attorneys for a Major League Baseball team are still ironing out the details.
The team was purchased by a former baseball legend for the mere sum of $608 million. However, the league is now arguing that they are owed millions of dollars to compensate for their costs during the bankruptcy trial. The league now wants to discuss the exorbitant amount it spent in bankruptcy court, including $61,000 towards the legal defense, $92,000 for online research and $98,000 for photocopying fees.
Since the team was so deeply in debt, the case took longer than other MLB bankruptcy cases in court. In total, the league hopes to remove $3.8 million from the $6.3 million they spent on the case.
