CEO Hopes to Fight Foreclosures

One man hopes to fight the rising tide of foreclosures by providing much-needed services to homeowners around the country.

Based out of Texas, the CEO of a financial group that pools the efforts of local credit counseling agencies is back home and back to work. He told the press that his group has prevented 5 million homes from going into foreclosure over the past few years. Of these, 4.2 million were private sector mortgages and 800,000 were government mortgages.

His estimates show that most of the homes that were saved from foreclosure used private banks rather than government mortgages. He spoke out against one government program that fell short of expectations and helped fewer people than initially expected. The CEO believes that banks should be working to sell foreclosed homes so that these properties can be refurbished and inhabited quickly. Keeping them from the auction house only prevents the housing market from experiencing another much-needed upswing.
