San Diego Experiences Rise in Foreclosures
San Diego County has seen foreclosures and mortgage defaults increase in January of this year after three consecutive months of drops. This is according to the DataQuick Information Systems numbers posted on Wednesday. Experts believe that this increase could be a sign that a wave of distressed properties will be coming onto the market over the next few months.
This report also revealed that foreclosures have risen from 959 in January from 715 in December, representing a 34 percent increase. This also represents the largest monthly jump since December of 2009. Based on previous years foreclosures have fallen 2.7 percent.
Overall January saw 1,548 mortgage defaults, up from 1,522 in December, representing a 1.7 percent increase. However that number is down from January of 2010 that saw 1,741 foreclosure filings.
