Foreclosure Can Lead to Poor Health
The results of a study published by a University in Maryland may not come as a surprise to those that have recently had their property go into foreclosure.
Researchers at the university found that people who had recently lost their homes or dealt with foreclosure were more likely to be suffering from mental health problems. Based on the results of the 2006 and 2008 study, people in foreclosure were more likely to not be able to afford their prescription medications or healthy food, leading to a decline in their mental health and general health.
Of the entire research sample, nearly one-third of those who were in foreclosure reported being in poor or fair health. Just 19% of those who were not delinquent on their payments reported being in poor or fair health.
