Expert Warns Foreclosure Relief of 2011 was Temporary

According to recent housing market reports, 2011 saw the lowest number of homes entering foreclosure since the recession hit. Just 1.9 million homes went into foreclosure last year, a high number but one that represents progress. While this may seem like great news on the outside, one housing market expert warns that this figure may be deceiving. The decline was mostly due to the "robo-signing" scandal that took place in 2010 and leached into 2011. When the government learned that several of the largest mortgage providers had been pushing through foreclosures without taking the proper steps, it put a halt to foreclosures across the country.

Now that most of those bans have been lifted, financial experts say that 2012 could see even more foreclosures than before. Not only is there a serious backlog created by the robo-signing scandal, but there are new properties that are being evaluated for foreclosure to consider as well. If you think that you may be facing foreclosure or have received a notice of foreclosure on your property, act now by contacting the Malaise Law Firm to get help from a Houston bankruptcy attorney.
